6th street austin gay bars

There are definitely ways to appease both sides here - property owner can put up their tenants in another space (temporarily, or permanently) while they build out - possibly making sure there is space for them in the new building. If you’re looking to get away from the Downtown bars, Cheer up Charlie’s is a great alternative.

in the gentrified part of East Austin, you’ll see plenty of Lonestar beer, bicycles, and food trailers around this part of town. The property could be used much better - especially with the Project Connect plan to make 4th st a transit plaza (close the road to traffic/etc.)Īs a queer person, it's hard to not feel a little bit NIMBY, upset, and angry. The best description I’ve read for this bar is Queer Hipster Haven.

As a pro-development YIMBY, I recognize how vastly underutilized 4th st is.
